Arsenal board warn Arsene Wenger to stop dithering in transfer market

The Frenchman's future has been debated for months, with his contract expiring at the end of the campaign.

The official announcement of Wenger's deal is expected to come Wednesday.

As well as Arsenal moving ahead of Manchester United as the most successful team in the history of the FA Cup, Saturday's win also secured Wenger's spot as the competition's best manager.

Even after beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final on Saturday, Wenger indicated he has to stew until tomorrow's board meeting before discovering whether his 21-year reign will be extended by the record 13-time FA Cup winners.

But the wounded Gunners used that blow to their pride as fuel for a dominant performance that proved too much for Premier League champions Chelsea.

AFP | Arsenal legend Ian Wright fears Arsene Wenger would leave the Gunners "totally in the lurch" if he decides to quit the Premier League club this week.

Despite the agreement, Arsenal's board want Wenger to make changes to his management style and want the Frenchman to avoid a repeat of last summer's chaotic transfer window.

Arsenal just took home the FA Cup a few days ago, finishing what had been a disappointing year with a nice final note.

Wenger wants to retain the key decision-making say on his staff and player recruitment and would regard interference as unacceptable.

When Alexis Sanchez put the ball in the net after four minutes, it appeared to be initially disallowed because Ramsey was adjudged to be interfering with play while offside. There were a lot of rumours about me.

He described the criticism he had faced as a "disgrace" in a BBC interview broadcast prior to the final and returned to the theme after lifting the trophy.

'If you ask me now whether Arsenal are going to be in the top four next season, I would say most probably not'.

But once the game starts and you are a fan, you stand behind the team.

Reports suggest the 67-year-old is leaning towards staying, but he refused to disclose any information about his future and said the situation would be resolved at a board meeting tomorrow. I accept to be criticised and I accept people don't agree with me.
