At 100 days in, Trump seems both outsider and insider

Pennsylvania was a key state victory for Trump in the November election, becoming the first Republican presidential candidate to carry the state since 1988.

Even as he returned to politically important Pennsylvania, Trump seemed torn between who he was courting.

During televised debates with Clinton, Trump said that if elected, he would appoint a special prosecutor to look into her use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State.

Instead, Minhaj praised the First Amendment for allowing a "first-generation Indian-American Muslim kid" to make fun of the president on live TV. Here, too, Trump offered his supporters a far rosier picture than the one that has emerged from Capitol Hill.

It's no secret that President Donald Trump distrusts the mainstream media. But speaking to supporters Saturday night in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the president derided the news media and accused them of "fake news".

Trump's 100th day as president also falls on the same day as the White House Correspondent's Dinner, an event that past presidents have routinely attended.

"I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away", he told a crowd in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, calling out The New York Times, CNN and MSNBC by name.

"I think it's kind of naive of us to think that we can all walk into a room for a couple of hours and pretend that some of that tension isn't there", Sanders said of the press and the president.

"Together we are seeing that great achievements are possible when we put American people first", President Trump said in his weekly radio and internet address.

In an hour-long speech attacking the media and predecessor Barack Obama, boasting about his support for U.S. industry and the military, vaunting his foreign policy positions including on confronting North Korea, reading a poem, and repeating his signature "Make America Great Again" motto, Trump earned cheer after cheer from the crowd in Pennsylvania.

"For the last 100 days my administration has been delivering every single day.whether putting our coal miners back to work, protecting America's steel and aluminium workers. we are keeping one promise after another" he told the capacity crowd of around 10,000 many of whom had been queuing since the afternoon. I've had things that were tougher, although I'll let you know that better at the end of eight years.

But he also went after Trump's rhetoric toward media outlets, saying, "Freedom of the press is a building block of our democracy".

That hasn't stopped the president - who has both hyped and dismissed the significance of the 100-day mark - from claiming to run the most successful administration in U.S. history, a message he's expected to take to supporters in a campaign-style rally Saturday evening.

During his opening remarks, the WHCA president argued that "press access under President Trump has been very good", citing several press conferences in Trump's early days in office and reporters having access aboard Air Force One.

Eight days into his administration, President Trump places a phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Oval Office of the White House. "He needs them behind him".

Trump says the measure has a "clause that guarantees" that people with pre-existing conditions will be covered.

President Donald Trump shakes hands with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping after their first in-person meeting at Trump's Mar-a-Lago Estate, Florida. Even his promise to build a wall on the border with Mexico has been caught up in a spending debate, with no support from Democrats and little to no progress being made.
