The bracelets honor the 143 officers who died in the line of duty past year across the country.

Trump addressed law enforcement and family members of the fallen at the 36th Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service outside the U.S. Capitol, reaffirming his campaign promises to restore justice and end attacks on police.

Police in Northeast Wisconsin are honoring fallen officers as part of National Police Week.

President Donald Trump promised on Monday to do all he could to stop violent crimes against law enforcement. "It's just a nice way to honor their sacrifice and the commitment of the cops moving forward", said Parizek.

Thanking them, Trump, who noted in his remarks that he was in NY when the September 11, 2001, attacks took place, said: "I will make it the personal priority of my administration to ensure that our police are finally treated fairly, with honour and the respect that they deserve". "This is a demanding career choice, there's a lot of sacrifice for not only those who are in law enforcement, but their families as well. We pay tribute to their strength, their honor, their courage, and comfort those or try to comfort those who they left behind", said Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.

The president made a point to single out and honor numerous officers slain in the past year, and paused his speech to toss a hat to a child of a Phoenix officer killed in the line of duty.

"President Trump stands with the men and women of law enforcement without apology, and he always will", Pence said. We thank them as well.

"We know that the risk is real".

Sergeant Paul Parizek with Des Moines police told us last week that Chief Dana Wingert and fellow officers will be at the service.

Decades later, the event, more commonly known as National Police Week, has grown to a series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to our Nation's Capital each year.
