Earlier on Tuesday morning the jury reported they were unable to reach unanimous verdicts so Judge Deborah Taylor allowed them to return majority verdicts.

"I feel no sense of victory, only relief", a statement read by Harris' lawyer outside Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday (May 30th) said.

"I am 87 years old with a sick wife (Alwyn) and I want to spend my final years in peace".

Harris has already finished a prison sentence for 12 other convictions of indecent assault.

British prosecutors considered whether to pursue the charges but told the court they would not seek a new trial.

The assaults were alleged to have occurred at public events between 1971 and 1983.

The disgraced former entertainer, 87, was twice tried over alleged sex attacks on teenage girls in the 1970s and 1980s.

The retrial heard from three women who claimed Harris molested them when they were young.

His lawyers suggested that the women were motivated by greed, coming forward after he was convicted in June 2014 of 12 counts of indecent assault.

Ex-EastEnders actress Rula Lenska, who attended the It's A Knockout-style show Star Games, gave a statement in which she said: "I can say, hand on heart, I never witnessed anything untoward or suspicious".

Harris attended the January trial via video link from Stafford in what was believed to be a legal first.

Harris's release was revealed to the jury to explain his sudden appearance before them.

Rolf Harris will leave court a free man after a jury failed to reach a verdict on four indecent assault charges.

"We have come to the firm view that it would not".

He told the judge the prosecution would not offer any evidence and invited her to enter not guilty verdicts on the four counts, which she then did.

Harris himself left court amid a media frenzy and went to his vehicle without saying a word to the press himself, after Judge Deborah Taylor had found him not guilty on all four charges.
