After years of teasing fans about wanting to turn her life story into a musical, Cher has confirmed that the show will hit Broadway next year. "There Will (be) performance in THEATRE WITH ACTORS, DANCERS, SINGERS‼️ IT'll (be) ON BROADWAY 2018".

Cher previously teased the musical in January after attending a secret reading of it. Avenue Q director Jason Moore is onboard to helm the project with War Paint's Christopher Gattelli as choreographer.

As well as enjoying hits such as I Got You Babe and If I Could Turn Back Time, the California-born star is also known for her skills on the screen, with acting and cameo roles across a range of films and United States television shows. It features a book by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), with songs being from Cher's greatest hits. As a producer, Cher would share in a win for Best Musical.

The 71-year-old singer's legendary career dates back to 1962, when she began working as a backup singer for Phil Spector. According to Playbill, characters also include ex-husbands Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman, who died late last month, as well as her The Player and Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean director Robert Altman, iconic designer Bob Mackie, and more.

Cher moved to television in the '70s before launching a comeback at the end of the decade.
