Miles Teller arrested for public drunkenness in San Diego

Miles Teller - the fingers-bloodying student drummer in "Whiplash" - was free Monday after being arrested early Sunday on suspicion of being drunk in public.

A police officer reportedly noticed that Miles was having difficulty standing on a sidewalk after partying with friends.

Teller, 30, was swinging from side to side, slurring words and had bloodshot eyes, prompting the officer to detain him for evaluation, Hernandez said. The publication notes the cop took Teller to the detox facility regardless, but charged the actor with a misdemeanour for public intoxication after Teller still refused to cooperate.

As officers were talking with him, Teller lost his balance and nearly fell into the street, Hernandez said. "He was then arrested and transported to the local jail where he was booked" and later released.

As CI readers know, the performer made headlines back in December after he was involved in a terrifying auto accident with his girlfriend, Keleigh Sperry, after an Uber driver smashed into his truck. The other driver pulled into oncoming traffic, and the bad accident was unavoidable.

TheWrap has reached out to Teller's spokeswoman for comment.
