The Sheriff's Department said Carroll posted bond and was released.

The Cowboys signed Carroll to a three-year deal worth $10 million this offseason. He previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles.

What makes this penalty more egregious is the fact both the league and the Cowboys offer free Uber rides for players who feel they shouldn't drive.

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president and CEO Stephen Jones spoke out on several topics on Tuesday, including David Irving's four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drug policy and Nolan Carroll's DWI arrest.

He's been working with the first-team defense during OTAs.

"It's a disappointing situation", head coach Jason Garrett said following Wednesday's OTA session.

"Nolan has taken responsibility for it", Garrett said.

"He's going to be a real asset for us".

The early summer heat is starting to beat down on Cowboys practices and it's fitting, cause right now it's a team that seems to keep getting into hot water.

"It's obviously a very serious issue", Garrett continued. He did say, "It's an issue that hits close to home to us", a reference to a tragic episode almost five years ago when Josh Brent crashed his auto, killing teammate and best friend Jerry Brown.

Add the likely season-long absence of pass rusher Randy Gregory for multiple substance-abuse violations, and the Cowboys could be opening their second straight season with three potential defensive starters suspended.
