Oscar victor Jennifer Connelly is set to star in TNT's "Snowpiercer" pilot, about a perpetually moving train that circles the globe after the world enters a new ice age.

Connelly's character, Melanie, is a first class passenger who works as the voice of the train. Well is a prisoner who gets swept up in the class struggle that threatens to forever alter life on the train. Joining the previously announced Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs in the pilot is Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha, Two for One).

According to Deadline, it is very rare for Connelly to star in a series such as "Snowpiercer" since the actress has been more involved in features. In 2014, she re-teamed with Requiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky and A Beautiful Mind co-star Russell Crowe for the biblical epic Noah.

Jennifer Connelly in American Pastoral (2016). She will also be part of "Alita: Battle Angel", starring Michelle Rodriguez, Christoph Waltz and Mahershala Ali.

Hamilton Tony victor Daveed Diggs stars.

2013's Snowpiercer, directed by Bong Joon Ho, adapting the French comic book Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Jean-Marc Rochette and Benjamin Legrand, seemed like an odd foreign film detour for Marvel Cinematic Universe Captain America Chris Evans.

Snowpiercer grossed $86.7 million during its theatrical release.

TNT and Tomorrow Studios are one step closer to pulling Snowpiercer away from the station. The show is executive-produced by Derrickson, writer-showrunner Josh Friedman, and the original film's Bong Joon Ho, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.
