Some folks say that they're no longer getting an "unsupported in this build" error message for Android Pay, but others say that they're still unable to actually use the app.

Android Go will allow users to monitor data usage in the notifications panel, whereas in full Android O this is buried in the Settings menu.

The rebranded app is set to be enabled on all compatible devices and is part of a wider initiative called Google Play Protect. Yesterday at I/O we took another step and introduced Google Play Protect, an always-on set of security services that are created to provide more peace of mind to IT managers, employees and all users.

It will also consist of specially designed Google apps-like YouTube Go, Chrome and Gboard-to use less memory, storage space and mobile data. What is unclear is whether this feature will also scan apps which have been side-loaded and how it will treat them.

In addition, Google confirmed that Android Pay -now available in 10 markets- will soon be coming to Brazil, Canada, Russia, Spain and Taiwan.

Facebook and Microsoft's Skype have already released apps that are optimized to run smoothly on Android Go. Despite the beta availability, Google is still calling this Android O Developers Preview 2. Google said the aim is to bring mobile computing to the next billion people. With the mention that before the transaction going through, the Assistant might ask you to authenticate yourself using a fingerprint sensor. It is a stripped down version of Android as we know it, and comes with apps that have been optimised to consume fewer resources.

When is the Android Go release date?

If you happened to miss any of the stories from Google I/O's second day, you can find them all in the links down below.

"There are now more Android users in India than there are in the USA", said Sameer Samat, the VP of product management for Android and Google Play.
