Taylor Swift to Spotify

@film_girl: "Taylor Swift brought her music back to Spotify and dropped prices on her albums at the exact same time Katy Perry's new album dropped".

But as music streaming services become more popular, Swift's management probably knows it can make a pretty penny.

But while a juicy feud between pop princesses certainly makes for a better story, there's likely another reason why Swift reconciled with Spotify.

Singer Taylor Swift has come under fire for releasing music on Spotify on the same day as her pop nemesis Katy Perry unleashed her album.

Speculations have claimed that Swift's announcement coinciding with Perry's album release is not a case of simple coincidence.

Swift had initially threatened to boycott Apple Music over not paying artists for streams by listeners on three-month free trial periods.

On Friday, after once raising a major stink regarding music streaming app Spotify and coincidentally, to the heartbreak of many of her "Swifties", removed all works with her name attached from the service in 2014, Taylor willingly abandoned her position as Apple Music's biggest draw and once allowed her entire discography, including 2014's still-phenomenal 1989 album, to be re-streamed through Spotify and other streaming music services.

But while Swift's fans were excited about the news, others turned to social media to express their suspicions about the timing of her return to streaming. (Drake's More Life was an Apple Music exclusive, too.) It's an open question as to whether Apple's public contrition was enough to sway Swift.

"I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I'm also not a pushover", Perry proclaimed to NME just recently. Perry's latest album features the song "Swish Swish" in which she boasts of her success to a rival - presumably Swift - accused of bad-mouthing her. Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls.

In truth, her back catalog was available in piecemeal or in full on various services well before early this morning.

"There's a situation", Perry told "Late Late Show" host James Corden last month while appearing with him on "Carpool Karaoke".
